Two Thumbs Down for Fairfield Inn
Posted by Brian under: Work .
So today after a week in the Georgia plant, I started a two week stint in the Virginia plant. After being pampered by the pimptastic suite at the LaQuinta Inn, I was quite shocked at the quality of the Fairfield Inn here in Chester, VA. No high-speed internet and no way to hook the playstation 2 up to the TV either. So now Im stuck in the hotel with no way of working on the webpage, and no way of playing more of my NCAA Football career. I guess it will be an early night to bed with only minesweeper to keep me company. Since I havent kept up with the webpage as much as Id liked, Ill fill you in on what else Ive been up to. While I was in Georgia, I got a chance to go visit my Aunt and Uncle. It was an evening of gadgets. I got to see a DVR (digital video recorder) in action, and my Uncle was even nice enough to lend me his talking GPS device for all my travels in the next few weeks. I was pretty pumped about the GPS telling me where to turn, and never getting me lost. However, after about a week of using it, I do have a few complaints. For starters, there needs to be a No Ghetto button. I was using the GPS to route me from the plant to my cousins school in downtown Atlanta. I was a little bit surprised that it didnt route me directly to the interstate, but I decided to follow the directions anyway. Well Im not sure if the route was faster, but I do know that I got to tour some of the nicest housing projects south of Atlanta, including the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary. This place was the kind of place that you dont stop in. even if the light is red. (or at least I dont stop on red in places like this.) Today on the way to Petersburg, VA the GPS sent me on the interstate, but instead of one interstate the entire way, it recommended that I leave the one interstate and take two other interstates just to get back to the original interstate that I was on. So basically Ive determined that the GPS is good only for local areas or general tracking of how far you have gone, and how fast your average speed was (by the way, on the way from Spartanburg to Petersburg my total time was just over 5 hours, and average speed was right at 72.4) Oh yeah, and Fairfield Inn still stinks!

The “No Getto” button is an excellent idea. Maybe in the next upgrade they can include this and a “Most direct route” so you don’t go in circles to end up on the the same road you started. Uncle Mark
