Michael is right…

Posted by Brian under: Atlanta; Family News; My Thoughts; Work; the Ball & Chain .

… it has been entirely too long since I have written anything on here. It’s not that nothing has been going on, exactly the opposite. So many everyday things have been going on, that I haven’t found any time to spend on the website. I guess I could’ve skipped Team Trivia last Wednesday at the Mellow Mushroom to work on the website; but then I would’ve missed out on a second place finish. That’s the best that we have done in a long, long time. Just ask Michael. Lets see, what’s new….. The new car is still running good, the only bad thing is getting it confused with any of the other 10 million Toyota Camrys in the Atlanta metro area. I’ve been mulling over going back to school. Part time of course, but I’ve been away just long enough now to forget all of the crap that was involved with school (Studying, tests, homework, etc.), and it’s looking like not such a bad option. Especially since work has agreed to foot the bill. That’s assuming that I get in of course. In wedding news, it’s approaching quickly. This weekend Val and I are off to see her sister, and maybe her sister’s “friend”, then it’s wedding stuff for two weekends straight. After that we have one more weekend for a camping trip, and by then we will be under a month to the wedding. Just the other day people were telling us: “Oh, in May. You have plenty of time.”, and now overnight it’s turned into: “May! That’s soon.” I guess that’s the thing about weddings. They sneak up on you before you have a chance to back out of them. Not that I’m planning on backing out. As long as Val doesn’t turn into a “Bridezilla”, like we saw on some show’s recently, I think things will turn out great.
In other news, I’ve signed up, and become a mystery shopper. Not quite as glamorous as a secret agent, but it’s got to be just below that on the coolness meter. In fact, now that I told you I was a mystery shopper I’m going to have to kill you, or at least do like the penguins on Madegascar and wave my arms while saying: “You didn’t see anything.” The mystery shopping job doesn’t pay anything, they just reimburse me for what I spend. It still ends up being free meals, so it’s hard to beat.
Speaking of good deals, there is another thing that I have been testing out recently, and that is Person to Person lending or “P2P” for those in the know. I’ve joined up to the website prosper.com and lent out $100 ($50 to two different people). The premise of the website is that instead of borrowing money from banks, you borrow money from other people, and they get the benefit of the interest. It’s exactly like what happens now with money that you put in the bank and gets lent out to others, they just cut out the middle man, who happens to be the banks. It has been less than a month, so I haven’t received any payments yet, and am unable to comment on how reliable the whole person to person lending system is. It seems like a good idea, and I’ll get back to you and let you know if I got paid or not.
Time to go and set up the March Madness pool for tomorrow at work, so that’s all the writing on here for now.
