A Couch without Hassle.
Posted by Brian under: Atlanta; Home Ownership .
Went shopping for a couch today after Val has been trying to get me to go for several weeks. I think I know the reason that I don’t like going shopping for big ticket items. The salesperson and I are not on the same page. They believe that I am in their store to buy something, and it is their job to question me on what I am looking for and direct me to that piece of furniture. If they actually knew the truth, chances are they wouldn’t waste their time on me. I am in their store only to look around, and will not be buying something for at least another 15 visits. No, I don’t want you to show me the chairs after I just told you I was looking for a couch. Yes, I can see where your couches are, I don’t need you to lead me over there and then hang around while I look at the couches. No, I don’t want to tell you exactly what I am looking for, just so I can break your spirit later when I walk out without buying anything. The more stores I go in, the more I realize that our couch at home doesn’t hassle me, and that may just make it better than any of the ones in the stores.. Perhaps I need to take a different approach when shopping. I need to avoid showering for at least a few days, and wear my grubbiest clothes. Maybe that will keep the sales force away, or at least convince them that I do not have money to buy anything that they are selling.

Bri, I could be wrong, but I believe Derek wrote that? I think you guys are definitely on the same page! BUT I do think we FINALLY found a couch that we both like & it only took us about 17.5 attempts. Derek could go on & on about getting hasseled by the salespeople…whew!
